The Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association GRENA is closely cooperating with research teams from different universities of Georgia. In January 2023 Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia funded two projects in which GRENA is involved as a partner organization.
For the first project the leading partner is Kutaisi International University (KIU) and project is related to the study of proton therapy technique accuracy and possibilities of its improvement. The hadron (proton) therapy is a modern, high perspective cancer treatment method.
The leading organization for the second project is High Energy Physics Institute of Tbilisi State University (HEPI TSU) and project intends the study of neutrino events with the KM3NeT telescope. KM3NeT the next generation neutrino telescopes is ESFRI infrastructure involving many partners from Europe and world-wide.
GRENA is already supporting KM3NeT experiment by providing computational and storage resources for the simulations and data analysis. In addition, GRENA organized high speed connectivity to the HEPI TSU. For the proton therapy project cloud facility GCloud of GRENA will be used for comparison of different models of proton interactions and for study of proton therapy monitoring tools. GRENA will also provide IT support to both projects.
